Celebrate Earth Day, Island Style

Orcas Island

Home to Coast Salish peoples since time immemorial, Orcas Island's natural topography boasts dramatic sea-to-mountain and fjord vistas everywhere! Those who call Orcas home cherish this island deeply. During Earth Day Orcas Month, the community comes together to celebrate a love of place, reflect on the environmental challenges we face, and engage in various environmental activities that provide paths of hope, healing, and community empowerment to honor our home planet.

Community Empowerment

Our Earth Day Celebration along the waterfront of Eastsound began three years ago and has blossomed into a month-long series of enriching and thought-provoking activities, focused on community empowerment. This celebration, known as Earth Day Orcas Month, now features a parade, eco fair, community dance, and activities for all ages. A dedicated local community team is managing the programming for this extensive celebration, ensuring a variety of environmental activities throughout the month.

The full month calendar is listed below. The MAIN EVENT in 2025 will take place on Saturday, April 26th, with a welcoming event scheduled for the evening of Friday the 25th.
