Celebrate Earth Day, Island Style

Join us at the Open Studio Makerspace on April 5th to celebrate community empowerment while gathering with friends to create your Procession of the Species theme costume or a contingent. This event at the West Sound Community Hall, from 11 AM to 3 PM, is a fantastic opportunity to engage in environmental activities as part of Earth Day Orcas Month.

Healing: Our Grief, Our Hope for the Earth. A Community Workshop focused on community empowerment, inspired by Joanna Macy's 'Work That Reconnects', with Erin Quies Wild at Odd Fellows Hall, 10-2. Join us for this meaningful gathering during Earth Day Orcas Month, filled with enriching environmental activities.

Join us for the Science: Climate COMPASS at Madrona Institute at 3:30pm, an engaging event focused on community empowerment and environmental activities, followed by a Community soup supper at 5:30pm as part of Earth Day Orcas Month.

Join us for a community soup supper at 5:30pm as part of our Earth Day Orcas Month celebrations, followed by an Orcas EV Network grant update at 6:15pm. At 7pm, Tina Whitman will discuss shoreline community empowerment with Friends of the San Juans, highlighting our ongoing environmental activities.

Join us for a field trip focused on community empowerment as we explore regenerative soil building and enrichment options practiced on Orcas. This event, part of the Earth Day Orcas Month celebrations, will help you learn how to amend your garden or farm. We'll meet up at Rising Oak Farm at 1pm, with two exciting stops planned.

Join us in celebrating our National Parks at the live Film Night hosted by the Friday Harbor Film Festival, featuring the San Juan Islands National Monument. This event, held in honor of Earth Day Orcas Month, aims to promote community empowerment through engaging environmental activities. Join us at the Main Theater, Orcas Center, at 6:30pm. First come, first seated.

Films: Join us for the Earth Day Film Festival, an online event hosted by the Friday Harbor Film Festival, celebrating community empowerment and environmental activities. Contemplative Gathering: A weaving of poetry and folk music that explores global challenges and the path toward peace and unity. Join us at 4pm on the 26th, following the Eco Fair, as part of our Earth Day Orcas Month celebration, promoting community empowerment through various environmental activities at the Episcopal Church.

Listening to All Our Relations

We are pleased to present an Orcas Elementary School Assembly for grades K-5 featuring guest Paul 'Chiyokten' Wagner. He will share indigenous flute music and Coast Salish environmental storytelling, promoting community empowerment among 175 students.

On the evening of April 25th, we invite you to a 'Voice of the Earth' gathering, celebrating Earth Day Orcas Month. This event will showcase flute music, poetry, and storytelling by Jill McCabe Johnson and Paul 'Chiyokten' Wagner (West Saanich), all focused on inspiring environmental activities.

Join us for Friday Dinner at 5pm, courtesy of The Kitchen, downstairs. The gathering begins at 6pm in the main hall, both at Odd Fellows.

Public art luminarias will be welcoming attendees.

Procession of the Species Parade

The PARADE takes place on Saturday, April 26th at 11:30am, as part of the Earth Day Orcas Month festivities. Individuals, families, and contingents are all welcome to join the fun!

Participants will assemble at the library at 11am on the 26th. The parade route will proceed down North Beach Rd to the Emmanuel Episcopal Labyrinth and culminate at the Eco Fair, featuring a range of environmental activities.

Enjoy the lively Earth Day Fair Celebration as part of Earth Day Orcas Month! There's something for all ages as we focus on community empowerment through various environmental activities. 

Following the parade, join us at the Eco Arts Fair from 12-3 at Emmanuel Episcopal and along the waterfront. Experience nature walks, art happenings, music, kids storytelling, and projects, all surrounded by environmental education tables that enhance our understanding of sustainability near the labyrinth and its Earthball.

Don't miss the nature walk with Taja Wicks at 12:30, followed by a Community Dance and Drumming session with Hayley Shannon and Friends at 1:30.

Finally, immerse yourself in World Peace Poetry & Music with Althea Wilson (Lummi) from 4-6 at the Emmanuel Parish Hall.
